Miss Marple and the grand picnic at New Forest

Posted by @ 15:39 14th Nov 2013

Quite often when we see return customers it means they have come back to take a powerful car out, such as the AC Cobra. In Dave’s case he was going to be hard pushed to top the sporty E-Type that he first took for a spin, so his return visit to us meant a slower pace of life and enjoying the finer things in life with the family joining in for a grand picnic at New Forest.

“Having hired your fabulous E type Jag for my 50th, my wife looking to do something fun for my 52nd and also to mark my Dad’s 80th, hit on the idea of a 1950s style picnic and Miss Marple was the obvious transport for the day. Vanilla Classics always make the day special – I love the appropriate mood music in Jax’s office and my Dad loved looking at the other cars and campers in the garage. It turns out that he took his driving test at the age of 23 in a Moggy Minor just like Miss Marple. With four seats, my wife Lesley and our Daughter Natalie, could come along too.

With the wicker picnic basket and a tartan rug in the boot we headed off to the New Forest, taking the roof down when we arrived on the quieter A and B roads. Having mastered the dark art of double declutching we all enjoyed the ride, just as much as the lovely food with lashings of ginger beer. Afternoon tea was taken at Lymington and we had fun looking at the yachts in the harbour.

We all felt sad as we got closer to Chichester as we had fallen for Miss Marple and her quaint, old–fashioned ways.

Thank you Vanilla Classics for another memorable day.

Dave”
