Hi Claire and Jax, I hope you weren't laughing too hard when I drove off in the Jeep, took me a while to get used to power steering again!!!
I would sum up our experience as follows...
Car technology has come on a long way since 1949 but I now know we have lost a lot of the true pleasure of driving. I would quantify
that by saying,
• modern cars are a lot faster = you miss the spectacular countryside you drive through
• everything modern is servo assisted or computer controlled = are you really driving, or is the car doing all the fun bits for you?
• modern cars are efficient and aerodynamic = they all look the same and have little or no personality whatsoever....
You often see "classic" cars being driven around ... slowly. They require a large budget, patience and physical strength, but now I know
why people do it, the challenge, the fun, the true feeling of "driving", the history and the nostalgia.
I knew I would enjoy the experience but I had no way of knowing how much I would love it, we had an amazing time with "Lord Riley"
and now see him as an old friend, who looked after us extremely well and was fantastic company on our journey.
Budget and time restraints mean I may never own my own classic, but we will never forget a truly memorable experience and cant thank you
enough for providing the opportunity for us to share in something very few people will ever get to do....
On the Feedback sheet I would rate everything as a 1, you guys were brilliant at every step....

Develop? hmm tricky one, the cars you have cover most eras and most tastes .. keep doing what you are.. it clearly works!!
Highlights were everything - from start to finish.
The only lowlight was when it was time to give "Lord Riley" back
Factors that contributed to our choice were ...driving something different, something you don't see on the road every day.
We wanted an experience that would make us feel special - we underestimated how special that would be .. by a lot
It was lovely to meet you both, and I really wish we lived closer, I would help Jax with all the cleaning !!!

This piece bought back in vivid detail our experience with the Riley RMD. The effort needed both mentally and physically to drive this car and the joy and sense of achievment at the end of the day that made it worth it. I think I will send in a pic and note about our day now.
