More Information
Morris 1100
Little changed since its introduction, the Morris 1100/1300 boasted production of over 1.1 million cars before manufacturing ceased in 1974.
Our model is one of only two four door cars we have in the fleet, and was made in March 1963; we actually have the bill of sale for £535 from when it was sold a year later by its first owner. She is finished in dark green with an immaculate multi tone green interior. The car was completely restored in 1993 and is in outstanding order. It’s a great drive down memory lane.
Designed by Sir Alec Issigonis, the Morris 1100 took the original Mini design concept a stage further and made its debut in 1962. The 1100 has an all new body shell with transverse mounted 1098cc engine and gearbox driving the front wheels. The suspension made use of the new hydrolastic design, giving a whole new feel to the quality of the ride. With a cleverly designed interior to give extra space for a small car, the 1100 quickly became a number one bestseller and in its various forms dominated new car sales in the 1960s.
Styled by Italian studio Pininfarina, the 1100 had wide ranging appeal, and appeared in many guises, including MG 1100, Riley Kestrel, Vanden Plas Princess and Wolseley 1100.
