Our model is from June 1959, and has only had 2 previous owners since new. She is a four seater tourer convertible, finished in back paintwork with a cream hood. In stunning overall condition, she is as original as they come; she sat in a dry garage for over 20 years until bought by us, and boasts only 24,000 miles on the clock. The original 2 door Morris Minor made its debut at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1948 and was an immediate success. By 1956 the car was released with various improvements, including an engine upgrade to 948cc to improve performance, and was designated the Morris Minor 1000. Of the 1.3 million cars that were made between 1948 and 1971, nearly 850,000 were Minor 1000s; it remains one of the most popular British cars in history.

The Morris Minor is still referred to as typifying Englishness – it’s never been out of fashion! The principal reason why it had continued success was that the designer, Sir Alex Issigonis,(whose next car was the revolutionary Mini) came up with handling characteristics, light steering, structural safety and mechanical reliability that were so advanced at the time that it is still acceptable for today’s motoring. Its friendly timeless shape is a design icon that has never needed to change.
