It was aimed at the export market to America, and is a really elegant design with its sweeping wheel arch surrounds and chrome detailing. One long bench seat across the front gives you plenty of room to stretch out, and feels very comfortable. It definitely has the look of the Gangster about it and wouldn’t look out of place in Chicago! A real favourite with us – leisurely cruising around the South Downs has never been as much fun.

This RMD 2 door 2 seat drophead coupe is a really interesting car. Only 502 RMD’s were made, and fewer than that with the 2.5 litre overhead camshaft engine, and even fewer in this version with the large boot and only 2 seats – it’s a rare treat. Not only that, but it’s in such excellent condition you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d just stepped back to the 40’s.
